Well-done teeth whitening usually lasts between one and two years, and how long it lasts depends mainly on your habits. The treatment brightens your smile by several shades; keeping that result is, to a large extent, in your hands. Here's how.
The initial result
With in-office whitening, the change in shade is visible the same day. The enamel lightens evenly and the effect settles over the first 48 hours, when it's best to be careful about what you eat and drink.
What makes it last
Coffee, tea, wine and tobacco stain the most. You don't have to cut them out, but going easy on them and keeping up good oral hygiene stretches the result. With that care, whitening usually looks great for one to two years.
Touch-ups
When the shade fades, a short touch-up brings back the brightness without starting from scratch. We look at it together at your appointment and decide whether you need one.
If you want to know what shade is realistic for your smile, we'll assess it free of charge at your first consultation.
